Houston crime: Man shoots victim twice near Museum District and then steals wallet, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man is recovering after being shot twice in a robbery near Houston’s Museum District on Saturday night.

The Houston Police Department said it happened around 11 p.m. when a man and woman had parked their car on the curb when they got to the man’s home on Blodgett Street, near Almeda Road.

The two were approached by a man who addressed them in explicit terms but did not ask for money, according to officials.

The victim then tried to escape but was shot twice by the suspect.

Police said the suspect reached into the man’s pocket, took his wallet and fled in an unidentified vehicle.

Officials said the man who was shot was taken to Ben Taub Hospital for surgery but is expected to survive.
