Houston crime: Gunman shoots victim in the neck during robbery outside Town Park Drive apartments, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man was shot in the neck during a robbery outside an apartment complex in southwest Houston overnight.

The shooting took place just after 1 a.m. Wednesday at Block 9000 of Town Park Drive.

According to Houston police, a group of four men were on Town Park Drive when a black vehicle pulled up.

A passenger got out of the vehicle and threatened the men with a pistol, police said. Witnesses told HPD he was Hispanic and wore a headscarf as a mask.

The suspect reportedly asked the victims in Spanish to give him their cellphones and money.

Police said two of the men complied, but when one of the men failed to do so, an altercation ensued.

The suspect fired the gun and shot one of the men in the neck, according to HPD. The victim was taken to the hospital.

“We have an adult male who was shot in the neck. He was not in very good condition when he was taken to the hospital so pray for him,” said Lt. R Willkens.

Two of the men ran away when the shots rang out, HPD said. You weren’t hit.

The suspect escaped after the shooting. Police are now searching the area for the black vehicle.
