House of the Dragon: Milly Alcock Says She Washed Dishes at a Restaurant Before Landing the HBO Series

house of the dragon Star Milly Alcock has spoken candidly about how the blockbuster HBO series has changed her life when the first episode finally aired on Monday (August 22).

Alcock, 22, plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the series, which is set 200 years before the events of game of Thrones.

“I never thought this would happen to me,” said the Australian actor Stellar Magazine in a recent interview (according to the website only Jared).

“I washed dishes in a restaurant and lived in my mother’s attic. That doesn’t happen to people like me, so it happened incredibly quickly.”

Alcock said she was cooking at a friend’s house when her agent told her she’d been cast in the fantasy series.

“I froze, took a deep breath and said to my friend, ‘Do you have wine?’ Then I called my mother,” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Alcock spoke about her decision to drop out of Sydney’s Newtown High School of the Performing Arts in 12th grade to pursue an acting career.

“I figured I’d either have to do all my exams in rural Australia or I’d just drop out of school,” she said. “So I dropped out because it was never really my thing.”
