Homeless man charged with stabbing in midtown NYC: police officers

A homeless man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Queens man who died on the sidewalk just blocks from Times Square, police officers said.
Vincent Cole, 38, was charged with murder Monday, less than a day after 51-year-old Esan Benn was found unconscious near West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue in midtown Manhattan, police said.
Benn was taken to the hospital around 5:30 a.m. Monday but could not be rescued, according to police.

According to Guyanese news site The News Room, Benn was a tennis coach in his native Guyana.
Medical officials later found Benn’s stab wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
Police investigators eventually found video showing the Queens man in an argument before he was stabbed and stumbled over a block where police discovered him, police sources said at the time.

Cole has been arrested seven times in Manhattan and Brooklyn for petty theft, burglary and criminal gun possession, police officers said.
