Hololive’s Usada Pekora takes a break to fix health issues

One of Hololive’s most notable VTubers, Usada Pekora, is taking a months-long hiatus to fix some of the streamer’s health issues. Peko spoke about her throat issues for a while on her last stream on May 14th.
Usada Pekora is one of the most well-known names for Hololive. The messy rabbit debuted almost three years ago and has been on the go non-stop ever since.
Since then, she’s blasted milestones on YouTube and been one of the faces of VTubing’s rapid rise. But just before her big 2 million subscriber celebration, Peko is taking a break from most activities as she struggles with health issues.
The streamer opened up to them a broadcast of May 14thexplaining how constant streaming and performing has caused vocal cords to become damaged over time.

“The damage has gotten worse over time,” she said after a translation. “My throat is still dry even after I’ve rested. I have been to a well known hospital before and they told me that I have a vocal cord lump.
“Some of you may be wondering what a vocal cord nodule is. There are vocal cords in your throat and they are usually closed. When you talk, they bump into each other. Then, if they butt together too much, a nodule will form and it won’t close properly. This causes my throat to be dry when there is a gap, my doctor told me.”
The VTuber star says it can take me up to two months to recover “if I rest and take the medicine and listen to what the doctor says.” Risking nothing, she takes an indefinite break until she has fully recovered.
However, it does not disappear from the Internet. Peko promised to keep fans updated on Twitter, maybe upload a few short videos every now and then, and she’ll keep up with her pre-planned activities as well.
“There are some projects and recordings that are already planned, so I’m going to commit to those,” she added.
“I’m not sure how long it will be, but I want to come back as soon as possible. It may take a month or two, so during the break I’ll upload short videos so you guys don’t get bored. You won’t forget me, will you?”
At the same time, however, Peko said that she will not fully return until she fully recovers. So if recovery is taking longer than expected, expect Peko to be out of action for a while longer.
