‘His mind is clear’: Reporter claims Chelsea midfielder is desperate to join Liverpool
Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia still prefers a move to Liverpool despite Chelsea having made an offer for him.
Chelsea have opted for Romeo Lavia but the Southampton midfielder still wants to join Liverpool instead.
This is based on an assertion by Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieriwho has been a regular source for Lavia’s future this summer.
Tavolieri claims Lavia is clear about what he wants – a move to Liverpool.
Chelsea offered £48million to sign Lavia on Wednesday night. an offer Southampton turned down as they wait for £50m.
The Blues have been hoping to hijack Liverpool and win the race, especially with Joe Shields at the club.
Shields worked with Lavia at Manchester City, bringing him to Southampton and then moving on to Chelsea so this relationship could be crucial.
However, Tavolieri believes Lavia’s move to Chelsea hasn’t turned heads and that he is still focused on joining Liverpool.
The Reds are yet to make a fourth offer, A third £46million offer was rejected earlier this week.
Romeo Lavia could prevent Liverpool move
Liverpool have made Lavia their top target in recent weeks but the situation has changed today.
The Telegraph reported earlier today that Liverpool suddenly tried to beat Chelsea by signing Moises Caicedo.
The Brighton and Hove Albion star has been Chelsea’s main target for weeks but Liverpool are now looking to outbid the Blues.
Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy adds that Liverpool have already discussed a payment plan with Brighton while they try to structure a deal for Caicedo.
The ball is now in Chelsea’s hands and a lot will of course depend on what Caicedo wants to do, but Liverpool’s interest has increased today.
Liverpool won’t be buying both Caicedo and Lavia, so in chasing the Ecuadorian Lavia risks missing out on an Anfield move – and he may end up opting for Chelsea after all.
