Heidi Matheny, woman from Ohio, confesses that her grandmother drowned

An Ohio woman reportedly drowned her grandmother the day after the 93-year-old was told she needed to be placed in a nursing home.

Eaton’s granddaughter Heidi Matheny is reportedly facing murder charges after she confessed to the twisted crime that ended Alice Matheny’s life on Tuesday.

“According to the confession, she was just tired of taking care of a grandmother,” Eaton Police Division chief Steven Hurd said, according to WDTN.

The granddaughter was concerned that she could not afford the nursing home costs and that insurance would not cover the bill, according to a police report seen by the TV station.

After the granddaughter and grandmother enjoyed ice cream, Heidi Matheny, 35, snuck up behind Alice Matheny while she was doing the dishes and reportedly stuck her head in the sink and held her there “until the blisters stopped,” according to the the police report.

She then told police she filled her bathtub and held her grandmother under water for about 15 minutes because she wasn’t sure if she was dead, according to WHIO.

When Alice Matheny stopped breathing, she left her in the bath and went to the police station, where she admitted it, WHIO reported.

“It’s not something she did,” Heidi Matheny said in a police interview, according to WDTN. “She’s not — she’s the perfect frigging grandma.”
