“He can be anything”: Stuart Pearce is glad the “fantastic” player didn’t secure a move to Liverpool

Stuart Pearce has expressed that he is “delighted” that Jude Bellingham has decided against joining Liverpool in the Premier League following his move to Real Madrid.

The 20-year-old got off to a flying start at Real Madrid and scored in all four La Liga games, most recently scoring the winning goal against Getafe in stoppage time.

England legend Pearce explained that Jude Bellingham “can be anything he wants” and he would also like to see more England players move abroad to play, he said talkSPORT.

Of course, Liverpool allowed their captain Jordan Henderson to leave this summer, and although he hasn’t joined any other European teams, he has started a new chapter in the ever-growing Saudi Pro League.

Either way, Liverpool fans’ big hope at the start of the summer transfer window was to sign Bellingham, but that didn’t happen.

If players like Fabinho and Jordan Henderson had been sold earlier, the Reds might have been able to compete from a financial perspective, but either way he made the right decision by moving from Dortmund to Spain.

Bellingham at Real Madrid

“Bellingham can be anything he wants,” Pearce said. “He has a stable background behind him that has guided him excellently.

“I have never met the young man before. But I gather from people like people who have met him and from talking to Gareth (Southgate) that he is a fantastic, level-headed young man. The world is at his feet.

“He changed clubs. Sometimes you change clubs and think, “Will it take a while to settle in?” He has settled in excellently. Certainly for a young player.

“I’m pleased he didn’t return to the Premier League (Liverpool). For England, that more players play abroad. It can only be good for England. The fact that Kane went to Bayern. It will make him more rounded and a better player if that is possible.”

Bellingham in the Premier League

You would think that one day it will happen and all the elite teams in the English top flight will be eager to sign him.

But just like now at Real Madrid, Bellingham will only be picking the best of the best because in five years or even less there could even be talk of him being a Ballon d’Or winner.

This is the height that Bellingham can reach because so far every step he has taken in his career has been the right one.
