Hate crime against the ‘Silent Night, Hateful Night’ team? (Poll)

When Law & Order: SVU Returning from winter break with the January 6 episode, the team teamed up with Hate Crimes, led by a very familiar face: Donald Logue’s Captain Declan Murphy.

For over an hour, we also got to know the rest of his team, two of whom we had also met before. Ari’el Stachel returns as Detective Hasim Khaldun, who worked with SVU in Seasons 21 and 22, and Cyndee Rivera reprized her role as Detective Mia Ruz, who also overcame the team in Seasons 22. They were joined by Jason Biggs as Detective Andy Parlato-Goldstein. And while watching them in action and seeing them interact with a unit we know – Mariska Hargitay’s Captain Olivia Benson, Ice T’s Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, and By Kelli Giddish Detective Amanda Rollins—we can’t help but wonder if we’re spying on someone else’s backdoor pilot Law & Order series. (We didn’t.)

However, a Law & Order: Hate Crime has been doing at NBC, then Peacock – due to the content – from 2018. In fact, when it was set for NBC, we had to meet the team in Season 20 (via TVLine). That makes us wonder if that’s what this latest episode could be.

After all, fans got to know Murphy when he recurred on SVU in 2014-2015, and when this episode started, he was just getting started with Hate Crimes. (He details to Rollins what his secret job has done to him, so those days could be completely behind him, meaning he’ll stick around – in New York and with this team.) Ruz impresses Benson. Parlato-Goldstein is memorable enough (including his introduction: “it’s all me”) that if he shows up again, we’ll know why he looks familiar.

But did you watch it? Law & Order: Hate Crime If this team sticks around? (Remember: We don’t know if that show will happen.) Vote in the poll below.
