Harvey Weinstein’s latest known accuser, Kaja Sokola, speaks out against the film mogul

Harvey Weinstein’s latest known accuser, ex-model Kaja Sokola, has spoken out against the film mogul.

She was 16 when she first met the film producer at an event. He was 50 then.

Sokola, now 35, has opened up to share her story in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

“People at the event were like, ‘This is the king of Hollywood and he can make anything happen,'” Sokola recalled of her first encounter with Weinstein. “He said, ‘If you want to be an actress, I see that you have potential and I’d like to meet you for lunch and talk about it.’ Of course I’ve heard, “Don’t go out to eat. People can put all kinds of drugs in your drinks.’ But lunch seemed certain.”

Repeating what she set out in her 2019 lawsuit, Sokola said she gave Weinstein her phone number. Three days later he called her and picked her up for lunch. When he asked her how old she was, she told him she was 16.

They were then dropped off at his Soho flat, where she claims Weinstein sexually assaulted her within minutes.

She said when she tried to escape, he blocked her exit and grabbed her arms to hold her. He then tried to neutralize the situation by claiming it was normal in the industry before listing the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Penélope Cruz as women whose careers he had helped.

Years later, Sokola says Weinstein continued to keep her hooked by promising to support her career.

Weinstein’s attorney, Imran H. Ansari, has said his client “categorically and strongly” denies Sokola’s allegations.

Ansari added: “A timeline of events, supported by other evidence, including testimonies, will refute Ms. Sokola’s allegations of child sexual abuse that were required by law to be asserted in her complaint in order to sue Mr. Weinstein among the child victims of acting.” and not become statute-barred due to the statute of limitations.”

Weinstein’s rep also claims that the producer didn’t buy his apartment in Soho — where Sokola claims the attack took place — until 2005.

Sokola’s lawsuit also directly targets Disney, the former parent company of Miramax, the TV company Weinstein co-founded with his brother Bob.

“While Disney owned Miramax, Miramax paid settlements to several women who were victims of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment and abuse. Based on Disney’s control of Miramax’s finances, Disney knew or should have known of these payments, which should have prompted additional inquiries and investigations,” the complaint, filed in December 2019, said.

Bob and Miramax are also listed as defendants in Sokola’s lawsuit.

“This lawsuit is another attempt to frame Bob Weinstein for an alleged sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein, with which Bob had nothing to do,” said Gary Stein, Bob’s attorney. “A number of similar lawsuits have been filed against Bob over the past several years. Every single one of them was dismissed from the courts.”

The Independent has reached out to Miramax for comment.

Since new york times’When Weinstein’s original damning 2017 report was released, more than 80 accusers came forward.

Weinstein, 70, is currently serving a 23-year sentence in Los Angeles and awaiting trial on 11 additional counts. He also faces two charges of indecent assault against a woman in London in August 1996.
