Harry Styles fans were left stunned after TikToker George Mason fooled thousands of people by creating a prank account modeled after the One Direction singer.

Harry Styles may have found fame within boy band One Direction, but the British singer has continued to develop as a solo artist. It has been speculated for a while that Styles has a secret TikTok account as opposed to an official site to promote his music.

Now legions of ardent Harry Styles fans are left confused after YouTuber George Mason masterfully curated a hoax account.

YouTuber George Mason creates an elaborate Harry Styles TikTok account

Posing as a celebrity is no easy feat, but YouTuber George Mason was up to the task after breaking ground with a fake TikTok account called @suemonella. Inspired by the nickname “Sue” given to Styles by radio host Nick Grimshaw, fans were convinced the account created in February was Styles’ incognito TikTok page.

After releasing a Spotify plague that racked up 1 billion streams on Styles’ single Watermelon Sugar, it almost seemed like the One Direction singer was gearing up for a big reveal of his TikTok account.

With more than 4.5 million views of the hashtag “suemonella”.Mason revealed he mastered the account on his YouTube channel.

As Mason’s increasingly complicated intrigues propelled the hoax account, the YouTuber admitted in his reveal that “I didn’t think anyone would believe me.”

From staging paparazzi photos to recreating Styles’ clothing choices, Mason noted to Insider that “Harry Styles fans are very intense and very good investigators.”

Now that the cat is out of the bag, it’ll likely be a long time before Mason spoofs another celebrity, but stranger things have happened. Maybe Harry Style will join TikTok after all.
