Harris County deputy involved in crash while answering emergency call in Katy, authorities say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – A Harris County sheriff was hospitalized after he was involved in an accident while answering a call Tuesday night.

The accident happened at the intersection of Franz and Mason Streets around 6:27 pm

Authorities said the co-pilot was driving west on Franz Street and was answering an emergency call regarding a missing child when he ran a red light. Meanwhile, a Chevy van was traveling south on Mason Street. Both cars collided at the intersection.

Authorities said the captain’s car turned around and overturned. The co-pilot suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The van driver was not injured in the collision.

Authorities believe the deputy minister may have been at fault, but they are still investigating.
