Harris County Crime: Arrest made in rage en route to the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Nicholas Croom of E. Beltway

On Tuesday, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared that 35-year-old Simon Adams was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Nicholas Croom.
According to Gonzalez, an investigation into the incident found that the shooting was caused by a conflict between Croom and Adams. Adams was arrested without incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
The shooting happened on January 21 at the 8700 block of North Sam Houston Parkway East. When the delegates arrived, they discovered a gray 2011 Toyota Camry crashed along Beltway 8 near Wilson Road. Deputies found Croom dead inside the vehicle.
Investigators said witnesses reported that Croom and a driver in a brown or tan pickup truck were involved in a road rampage while they were traveling east on Sam Houston Parkway, several hours later. seconds before the shooting occurred.

Shortly after the incident, Croom’s parents said their son was coming home from work to see his brother, who was in town visiting family when Croom was shot dead.
His mother, Monica Eagle, said the sheriff’s office and homicide detectives called the family, telling them that Croom had been killed 10 minutes from their home.
