Halo Infinite Battle Royale: Tatanka leaks, release windows, everything we know

While a Halo Infinite battle royale has yet to be made official, a variety of gameplay leaks, insider reports, and studio teasers all seem to point in the same direction. Here’s everything we know about the Tatanka rumor project.

Despite launching with a lot of hype, Halo Infinite’s core multiplayer didn’t exactly carry the momentum. With a fighting player base and infrequent updates, many have been Request to 343 Industries for delivery a battle royale mode in hopes of salvaging the title.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, it seems all but certain that a BR mode is indeed in the works. When we’ll see it, what it looks like, and how it works remains a mystery for now.

But with a selection of early leaks and insider accounts, we can begin to piece together a picture of the alleged Project Tatanka. So here’s a full breakdown of everything we know about the Halo Infinity BR so far.

A Halo Infinite Battle Royale could revive the stalled 343 release.

Is a Halo Infinite Battle Royale officially in development?

While all signs point to it, a possible Halo Infinite Battle Royale has yet to be confirmed. Microsoft continues to hold the cards close to the chest in this case, so we haven’t heard anything official about a BR mode yet.

Despite months of rumours, leaks and even a recent developer announcement piling up, a BR seems all but inevitable.

If a BR is indeed in development, reports indicate that Certain Affinity is the team responsible. This studio full of ex-Bungie developers has been working on the Halo franchise for a long time with 343 and only recently announced plans to “deepen” their relationship.

According to industry insiders, Certain Affinity has reportedly been working on a standalone project codenamed Tatanka Jez Corden.

The codename itself lends credence to BR theories as Tatanka was a former professional wrestler best known for winning a 40-man battle royal match.

Possible Halo Infinite Battle Royale release window

Although nothing was official, this Tatanka BR project was reportedly promoted to “over two years,” corresponding Jez Corden.

Given his behind-the-scenes progress, he claims that Halo Infinity BR is targeting a Season 3 or Season 4 release. given season 2 is locked for May 3, three-month seasons place this plausible release between August and November 2022.

Obviously, it’s worth taking this information with a pinch of salt for now. Plans can certainly change during development, and given Infinite’s track record of having both the co-op campaign and Forge delayed from launch, BR could follow suit.

Halo Infinite Battle Royale leaks

While Microsoft has yet to confirm its existence, Halo Infinite’s potential BR has seen a plethora of leaks over the past few months. From the codename itself to specific in-game settings, we already have a lot of work to do.

BR mode will apparently feature four separate playlists. Only two different lobby sizes may be supported, although players appear to have a choice of playing alone or as part of a team.

Below is a look at leaked Tatanka Lobby Size:

  • Tatanka with 60 bots – last team wins! Twenty teams of 3
  • Tatanka with 100 bots – last team wins! 25 teams of four
  • Tatanka FFA with 60 bots – Last surviving player wins! (with 60 bots)
  • Tatanka FFA with 100 bots – Last surviving player wins! (with 100 bots)

Various in-game shot leaks may have also revealed a number of important features in the BR. For starters, it looks like players will drop into the BR map through ODST-style “drop pods.”

A “containment zone” is also in place, not unlike all other BRs like Warzone, Apex Legends, and Fortnite, all of which have shrinking safe zones.

Last but not least, players in BR mode also appear to have a number of unique side missions. Similar to Warzone’s contracts, leaked settings revealed operations such as zoning capture, supply runs, and base destruction in Tatanka.

It’s early days, but check back often as we’ll keep you up to date with the latest details on Halo Infinite’s Battle Royale mode.
