Guy abruptly dumps his fiancée “without a word” after she cheats in a wild Reddit post

A Reddit post titled “AITA for abruptly cutting my ex-fiancé out of my life” went viral, leaving everyone in disbelief.

It was posted on the AITA thread this week, where Reddit users asked “Am I the asshole?” in certain situations.

“AITA for abruptly cutting out my ex-fiancé”

The post begins with a 25-year-old man explaining that he met his ex-fiancé in his freshman year of college. They were both 18 and fell in love pretty quickly.

“We had a really good relationship. It’s the kind of relationship everyone wants to be in. The kind of relationship people idolize,” he wrote.

For the purpose of the post, he called her Ashley and said she was everything he was looking for in a woman.

They built a life together and lived happily, but when he proposed to her, everything went wrong. She said yes, but things started to change.

Over the next few months, she became more distant and continued to go clubbing and drinking with her friends on the weekends.

Last week he received a text message from one of her friends saying she felt “super guilty” about the distance and was afraid of getting married.

“She felt she had not had a chance to explore other options and the prospect of being ‘locked up’ for life worried her greatly,” he explained.

The friend then revealed that Ashley often flirted, danced and made out with men while out and about to “get it out of her system.”

She didn’t think it was cheating, even when she ended up having sex with a man in the club bathroom. The author said his heart sank as a result and he “died that day.”

“I thanked the friend for telling me and told her to keep it to herself. For me, any form of fraud is an absolute no. I knew it was over,” he wrote.

He took two days off work to move his belongings to his brother’s house. On the second day he left while Ashley was at work.

“Since then, I have been avoiding any kind of communication my ex sends me. I cut them off completely. I refuse to speak to her or her family,” he said.

“I don’t even want to confront her about what happened. She came home that day and saw everything was gone.”

Her family and friends are now blowing up his phone, saying he was wrong for leaving “without a word.” They also vilified him on social media.

“I don’t really care. She knows what she did. To me she’s dead. She doesn’t exist.”

Reddit believes he’s not in the wrong

People on Reddit think the original poster is NTA (not the asshole) and say he should block her and tell everyone she cheated.

One person wrote: “NTA. She knows what she did. Maybe you want to tell everyone so they can get away from you.”

“NTA for kicking her out but honestly you need to tell everyone she cheated, there’s no point in taking the blame for what she caused. Tell them, block them, move on,” said another.

A third person added: “NTA but if I were you I’d explain it to her with a single goodbye message.”

“Fiance giving blowjobs to random guys in the bathroom? No – dump and block is the only thing to do,” another wrote.
