GTA 6 leaker reveals surprising location Rockstar originally planned for a new city

A major GTA 6 leak sheds new light on where Rockstar originally planned to take the series for its sixth installment, and it’s somewhere you wouldn’t expect.

GTA 6 was finally confirmed in development in early 2022, with Rockstar stating that work on the title was “in full swing”. While nothing else has been confirmed, indications are that fans will return to Vice City for the upcoming game.

However, what will stun many of the most die-hard GTA enthusiasts, it seems like the game originally sees the franchise in a brand new place never seen before.

Of course, take this news with a grain of salt, but if it’s true, it could show Rockstar plans that GTA 6 will be a wild new breath of fresh air for the series, even if they chose a fan-favorite location ultimately have.

GTA 6 could take place anywhere.

According to the leaker, GTA 6 could have taken place in North Carolina

According to insider Matheusvictorbr, one idea when Rockstar first suggested locations for the next GTA game was to take the series into an entirely new territory.

“Nothing major here, another of the first ideas to approach filming locations for the next Grand Theft Auto title was the state of North Carolina,” Matheus wrote on Twitter.

Amusingly, North Carolina sits somewhat between New York and Florida, which are stand-ins for the iconic GTA locations of Liberty City and Vice City.

The leaker didn’t elaborate on the claim, but it seems like Rockstar has abandoned that idea, so don’t expect to see a new state in the sixth installment.

In any case, we’ll have to find out where the next game is taking place once Rockstar finally decides to reveal more about the long-awaited GTA 6, but judging from other insiders we might have to wait until the end of the year to finally find out more.
