HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — Houston police are searching for a man accused of shooting a former Atascocita High School basketball star, 24-year-old Greg Shead, outside a bowling alley in the Hedwig Village area on Sunday.
This man, identified as 29-year-old Dionate Banks, was charged with Shead’s murder.

Shead’s parents say the past few days have been challenging.
“It is difficult. The hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life,” said Medisha Bush, Greg’s mother.
According to HPD, Banks and Shead got into an altercation outside the Bowlero bowling alley on Bunker Hill Road early Sunday. That’s when Banks shot Shead.
“My son didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve to lose his life behind something that didn’t make sense so young,” Bush said

Bush, who was at the bowling alley with her son, says she finds it difficult to remember all the details but adds that she does not recognize the suspect and that her son did not fight with him.
“Nothing really happened that I couldn’t even recognize him, you know? We had no words, there was nothing between him and us,” Bush said.
The suspect’s Instagram account was noted in official court documents.
ABC13 looked at the account and found a post that was created on Thursday.
The person claiming to be Dionate Banks wrote that he is defending a woman who was hit by a man that night.
The Instagram post said it was not intended to take anyone’s life and also includes an image of an HPD visitor badge with information from Banks on Tuesday.
A spokesman for HPD told Eyewitness News they could not confirm whether Banks met with police that day, but said he was not in custody.
Shead’s mother knows about the post and says her son didn’t hit anyone.
Shead’s parents said they rely on the strength of family and friends to get through.
“If you knew him, you loved him. It wasn’t a bad bone in his body. He made you laugh, just with joy,” said Gregory Shead, Greg’s father.
Greg Shead will be buried on Saturday, his family say.
