The cost of refueling a family car has skyrocketed 30p a liter in a yearwhile the wholesale price of petrol and diesel increased only 18p.
Hauliers spend more money filling delivery vans – driving up food prices, while shoppers cut spending on clothing, dining and snacks to £375m a month.
Tory MPs wants to negotiate with oil companies, supermarkets and fuel wholesalers about setting up a voluntary watchdog to ensure fairer pump pricing.

“Price at the pumps is skyrocketing, while oil companies are making excessive profits.
“We need answers from the industry why this is acceptable.”
MP Craig Mackinlay, who chairs the Fair Fuels group, added: “The cost of living crisis has proven extremely painful for many and sanity needs to be restored to price petrol as much as possible. the faster the better.”
