We are never short of new Batman products to consume or buy. Whether it’s a new movie, game or toy, this is a great time to be a dark knight fan. One of the things Batman will be excited about in 2022 is Knight of Gotham video game where the player takes control of Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood as they defend Gotham from Evil’s Court following Batman’s death. Arguably the best part of a new game is a new iteration of fan-favorite characters, and that means new toys, too. McFarland Toys has once again given us another new line of DC Multiverse action figures that includes all four playable characters in the game.
The line describes four aspects of their main interface from the game and its marketing material. All of the characters are 7 inches tall, have a collectible art card with their bio on the back, come with stands for posing, and each of them has a unique accessory. Robin has her bow, Nightwing has two Escrima sticks, Batgirl has Tonfa, and Red Hood has an extra set of hands.
The line will get fans excited and keep them going until the game is finally released next year. Since one of the unique features is creating your own skins for these iconic heroes, it will be interesting to see if McFarland creates variations of these characters when the final game is over. release or not. McFarland has done similar things in the past for Justice League by Zack Snyder and their figures are based on Arkham a series of games, so you should be a safe bet that new figures in this line will happen. And while Batman is dead in this universe, depending on how well he appears in the game, it’s possible we’ll also get a character based on his design from this universe.
Knight of Gotham being developed by WB Montreal, same group behind Batman: Arkham Origins, and is a story-driven action RPG set in the open-world Gotham City with a focus on customizability. The game is set to release sometime in 2022 for PC, Xbox One/Series X, and PlayStation 4/5. It is introduced in an impressive line of games for Warner Brothers in 2022, also includes Rocksteady Studio‘NS Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Hopefully that game will also get the good McFarland treatment.
