UPDATE 11:25 AM PT – Friday, December 10, 2021
A group of Republican senators are backing Joe Biden’s proposed mandate to give truck drivers a COVID-19 vaccine.
In one letter to BidenThe 12 GOP senators, led by Montana Senator Steve Daines, warned the mandate would make the supply chain crisis at the US-Canada border worse. The senators pointed out that truck drivers are essential workers and any duties would hinder the movement of goods between Canada and the US.
They urged Biden to discuss his proposal with Canadian officials and come up with a plan that did not include a vaccination mandate. The president of the American Trucking Association has also spoken out against the mandate, saying it would put truckers out of business.
“In our sample survey of fleets, 37% of our drivers said not only no, but no,” said Chris Spear, CEO of the American Trucking Association. “For now, let’s just take a conservative number. Let’s just say 3.7 percent, not 37 percent, actually left instead of getting vaccinated. That would be a disaster. We’re 80,000 short, and that’s going to grow to a quarter of a million. So for us, we tried to make it clear to the authorities that if you do this, I understand the logic behind it, but if you do this, here are the consequences. ”
I won’t stop fighting until ALL Biden mandates are reversed.

In a separate statement, Daines said that Biden imposed a mandate on essential American workers trying to cross the Northern border while not imposing any on illegal immigrants. crossing the southern border, is hypocrisy. He went on to say that Biden needs to stop putting illegal immigrants on American workers.
