glasses box Viewers were left “sobbing” over a touching moment between stars Pete and Sophie Sandiford.
In the last episode, which aired on Friday (March 4), the brother and sister duo were shown watching news footage of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Before Vladimir Putin’s attacks on numerous cities, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called up military reservists and his government has urged the men to report to the military.
In Ukraine, there was a compulsory military service that prohibited men between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving the country.
While the commander of the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces revealed that recruitment procedures had been simplified and age limits had been removed, this did not prevent Pete from putting himself in the position of those who were left behind in combat.
“I don’t know how I would feel if I was held back to fight the war,” he said. “Because what are you doing? You can’t say, “No, I’m going,” but do I really want to be shot at and possibly killed for the same reason? What is more valuable to me?”
This is where Sophie got emotional and said to her brother: “I choke just thinking about it. Because I would just stay with you.”
Pete replied, “No, you wouldn’t; Damn it, you soft little ass.”
As Sophie continued to cry, Pete said, “Stop it you asshole, you’re making me cry.”
The interaction touched viewers of the Channel 4 entertainment show, who praised their loving relationship.
“Pete and Sophie make me sob. Their sibling bond is so strong,” one viewer wrote, and another added, “Just when you think you couldn’t love Pete and Sophie more…”
Explaining why they’re such a big fan of the couple, one viewer said: “What I love is how Sophie and Pete piss each other off, but they really love each other.”
Pete and Sophie, who live in Blackpool, have been on the series since 2017.
