(Hill) – Conservative radio presenter Glenn Beck said on Wednesday that he had contracted COVID-19 a second time and that the virus had “entered” his lungs.

Talking to Mark Levin on Levin’s radio showBeck said he had been infected with the virus for about a week. He told Levin he was “great, except having COVID and seeing the devastation of our country”.

Beck said it was a “mild case, but it started going into my lungs today, which is a bit worrying,” adding, “I’m on all the medications and treatments and everything else, so we’ll see.”

Beck told Tucker Carlson in April that he had previously had COVID-19 and so he would not be vaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone, even those who have had the virus before, get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Those who are not vaccinated after recovering are more than twice as likely to get COVID-19 again than those who are fully vaccinated after they recover,” the CDC said.

Beck told Levin that he was not being treated with monoclonal antibodies, some of which are less effective against the omicron strain of the virus, but that they were instead taking ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and fluvoxamine – no cure. Which of these is an approved coronavirus treatment – and his doctors “hit it hard. ”

The two continued to discuss unproven medical claims about the drug, with Beck insisting it was “basic science”.

Becky posted about his second positive test on Instagram at the same time, calling it “the worst cold I’ve ever had” and lamenting the lack of access to unapproved treatments, some of which were heavily advertised. flourished by people before President Donald Trump and its allies.

Beck told Levin he’s “not worried” about his infection, adding that he’s “done with this whole COVID thing” and that “we have to get on with our lives.”

He also joked that he was “a fat guy” and said “that’s probably not the best thing,” while also noting “I have some other problems.”

Learn many times showed that two of the most commonly used monoclonal antibodies were ineffective against the omicron variant, leaving only one monoclonal treatment administered by GlaxoSmithKline for high-risk patients.

Ivermectin is an antiparasitic drug. It is not approved to treat COVID-19, and after widespread reports that people are trying to use the pet form of the drug to treat or prevent coronavirus, the Food and Drug Administration give warning against its use unless prescribed by a doctor.

Similarly, the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine has been found to be ineffective against COVID-19 by the National Institutes of Health and the World Health Organization have warned of its use to treat COVID-19.

The antidepressant fluvoxamine is is currently being studied for potential treatment opportunities, and a doctor asked in December for emergency use authorization.

Hill has reached out to Beck’s team for comment.
