Glastonbury Secret Sets 2022: rumors and how to find out who will play

George Ezra and Jack White are among acts playing secret sets at Glastonbury.

The festival’s belated 50th anniversary has officially begun and there has been much speculation as to who might fill the missing cast spots.

The 2022 schedule already features big names like Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish and Diana Ross, but there’s still a few spots left for some surprise appearances.

Previous secret sets have featured the likes of Lady Gaga, Franz Ferdinand and Pulp.

Word of mouth aside, news of who the TBA cast members are known to travel through the Twitter account @Secretglastowhich claims to inform followers of suspected appearances a few hours before the start.

The account, which has over 37,000 followers at the time of writing, has previously been correct on previous Glastonbury surprises such as The Killers (2017), The Libertines (2015), and Glass Animals (2017).

Who are the most rumored acts for 2022?

Bastille, who actually played Thursday June 23, had been one of the most rumored acts after a photo surfaced on Twitter.

The @Secretglasto account, which has successfully predicted many other rumored sets in the past, posted an image of the peace sign on the pyramid stage with the caption: “I think if Bastille had the nuclear codes and had to keep them secret we all would.” be dead. #CND.”

George Ezra and Jack White, meanwhile, both confirmed on Sunday that they would be playing sets at the festival.

Ezra takes the stage at 2pm, while White will perform at 6pm.

George Ezra is also believed to be playing the John Peel Stage on Sunday (June 26) after a photo surfaced on Instagram with a sign reading ‘Gold Rush Kid, John Peel Stage – 2pm’.

The singer’s current album is titled Gold Rush Kidwho cites the @TheGlastoThing Twitter account to hint that he could fill the much-anticipated spot.

Harry Styles is also being mentioned in speculative talks about secret sets, with rumors suggesting he could join Billie Eilish during her Friday night headlining slot on the Pyramid Stage.

Originally a rumored headliner himself, Styles was not included in the confirmed lineup. However, he still has most of the weekend off between tour dates.

With a show in Dublin on Wednesday (June 22) and a show in Hamburg, Germany on Sunday (June 26), fans believe he may surprise festival-goers.

It is also suspected that the US band Green Day could perform. The band have never played the festival before, but did a secret set at Reading Festival back in 2012.

The rock band of ‘American Idiot’ are currently touring the UK but have a gap in their dates in Glastonbury on Sunday (26 June), leaving fans speculating about a possible gig.

Additional fuel was poured on the fire as tour support band Amyl and the Sniffers play the John Peel Stage on Sunday (June 26), right where Green Day have their gap.

Elton John was also a rumored name, with gaps in his 2019 tour dates before the festival was canceled for two straight years due to the pandemic.

With the artist currently touring the UK, speculation has begun as to whether the Rocket Man could make a surprise appearance at Worthy Farm.

Currently John is on a break between shows on the Saturday of the festival (25th June) after appearing on London’s BST Hyde Park series on Friday (24th June).

Arcade Fire and The Chemical Brothers are also among the speculations.

It was also hinted that Florence + The Machine turned down the opportunity to fill one of the secret slots at this year’s festival.
