Glastonbury Festival 2022 line-up: Block9 unveil return

Block9 have revealed details of its return to Glastonbury Festival, which will see a range of acts including Todd Edwards and Honey Dijon perform across two stages.

After a three-year hiatus, London creative partnership will host IICON – a sculptural stage and dance arena billed as an “epic moment for our digital, post-factual age” – as well as a new collaboration with Notting Hill Carnival at the legendary festival, which runs from 22 June runs until June 26th.

Block9 will also host popular New York City Downlow venue, Meat Rack and Genosys Soundsystem.

Co-founders Gideon Berger and Stephen Gallagher were inspired by 1990s rave culture.

“This year, Block9 pays homage to the philosophy and spirit of [1992’s] Castlemorton [rave]’ said Mr Berger.

“Thirty years later we continue to fight for the utopian dream that Castlemorton represents. A dream of music, community and progressive inclusion, free from government control and corporate greed.

“A direct descendant of the Castlemorton era, Block9 retains direct connections to the people, DJs and crews behind the rave era itself Principles represented at the core of dance music.”

Throughout the five-day event, the IICON immersive audiovisual arena will host performances from Shygirl, Hercules & Love Affair and more, while Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet For The End Of Time will be presented as an immersive 3D experience each night.

Block9’s partnership with Notting Hill Carnival will include a fully sustainable electric float, dancers and performances by the Mangrove Steel Band.
