GIANLUIGI BUFFON is aiming to compete in North America before he hangs up his gloves.
Italians turn 44 next month but still have desire to improve and play often.
He back to his childhood club Parma last summer but a move to less familiar surroundings may be waiting.
Talking to TUDN, Buffon said: ‘I wanted to play in Mexico or the US, but I would have stopped if there was a Champions League.
“I want to play in Mexico or the United States.
“These are experiences I’d like to try, but we’ll see what happens.
“If you ask me what I will do in the future, the truth is I still don’t know if it will be a manager or a coach. Knowing me, what I want now is to continue to improve.
“Not winning the Champions League keeps my spirit alive.
“Perhaps if I had won the Champions League, I might have retired, because I wouldn’t have any important goals left to achieve.”
Buffon has won 28 trophies in his career, including the World Cup but the Champions League medal has put him in hiding.
The goalkeeper finished as runner-up in the competition three times, most recent coming in 2017.
A year after that failure, he even moved in Paris Saint-Germain to try and get his hands on the ‘big ears’ trophy he coveted, but he left France with just one Ligue 1 championship medal.
