Galveston Island State Park reopens after a major renovation with updated campgrounds, hiking trails and fun by the bay

Beachgoers can look forward to a new park main building, two new restrooms, new roads, 95 new campgrounds, two new changing areas and rinse showers, 20 new shaded shelters in the daytime area, and a seasonal equestrian day-use area, according to a press release.
Hikers can enjoy more than 5 miles of hiking trails, a redesigned bayside nature center, two lookout towers, two boardwalks, three bayside kayak launch sites, a new retail area and three new beachfront group pavilions.
