Gabriela from “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” finished: “They Broke My Spirit”
Gabriela Barragan said Ashley Marti turned around Sailing yacht below deck Crew against her almost immediately – which she didn’t really know until much later in the season.
While Barragan said she’s still friends with most of the crew, she said described an unpleasant working environment, not really feeling part of the camaraderie of the crew. “I had no idea she was poisoning the well and getting on everyone’s ears and changing their perception of me,” Barragan said of Marti Gangplank Report podcast.
“That explains why some of them didn’t really give me a chance or try to get to know me,” she continued. “Because it seems like they all pretty much listened to her. And no one came to see my side.”

Barragan regrets the crew saw her drunk and angry side. But shared that she felt heartbroken as she left the boat. “You broke my courage,” she said. “And I let myself down and let myself down. And I just felt like I was better than that.”
“Nobody met me during working hours,” she said. “I was too busy with the guests while the rest of the crew sat in the galley and joked.” She added that Marti was kind to her face and she thought they had become close during the season. So she was completely blind when she saw that Marti felt the way she did.
In fact, she had no idea this was going on until episode 6. When Marti gave her the cold shoulder, Barragan blamed Marti for being young or for having a bad day. “When I first see all of this, I’m like, oh wow, that’s dark,” she said. “Yeah, that was kind of scary.”
Barragan said she trusted and felt close to Kelsie Goglia, Gary King and Tom Pearson. She had more than one conversation with Goglia.
What happened between Chef Marcos and Gabriela?
She also clarified what happened to chef Marcos Spaziani. Barragan and Spaziani initially seemed to meld, but as they got to know each other, she found that she annoyed him. Barragan has no idea what exactly angered him, but she said he was very dismissive of her when she tried to get to know him.
In recent episodes, the relationship between her and Spaziani has become increasingly strained. She finally felt bonded during the crew’s day off and eventually snapped. “I think I had every right to say you guys are annoying,” she said. And that’s mean. And that’s why I attacked Marcos because he was laughing.”
She never said anything to the crew because they didn’t know what was wrong with her. But she thinks Spaziani knew she was upset and mocked her. And added: “Stop trying to paint me as a bad person just because you don’t get my sense of humor. It’s not that serious.”
Months after filming ended, Spaziani reached out to Barragan. He apologized and suggested meeting up sometime. “But then I wouldn’t hear from him and he would unfollow me on Instagram,” she said.
Gabriela addresses rumors of racism on ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’
Barragan spoke too rumors of racism and especially wanted to clear up a rumor that Daisy Kelliher made a racist remark. Barragan said that Kelliher made absolutely no racist comment and she feels terrible that Kelliher was implicated in a blind item rumor that surfaced recently.
“Daisy never said anything to me that was remotely racist,” she said. “And I haven’t experienced any microaggressions from Daisy. That was really strange that she was named in the blind item. And it gave me a big s***storm. I had other cast members DMing me in Daisy’s defense, basically trying to get me to take responsibility for the article when I don’t even know who wrote it.
Eventually, Barragan connected with Kelliher and said they were in a good place. “We had a great conversation,” she said. “And I wanted her to know that I didn’t think that from here, and I never did.
