Kristen Stewart has opened up about an impromptu scene she and co-star Viggo Mortensen shared in their new movie crimes of the future.
The couple stars alongside Léa Seydoux and Scott Speedman in David Cronenberg’s upcoming sci-fi horror film. Her characters live in a dystopian future where humans no longer experience pain or infection and begin to merge with their synthetic environment.
In a new interview with vulture, Stewart spoke about a moment midway through the film when her character tries to seduce Mortensen by putting her hands right in his mouth and peering inside.
When asked if it was in the script, she replied, “So it wasn’t in the script. I’m damn proud of that. That’s my favorite part of the movie.”
The Oscar-nominated actor added that according to the script, “at one point I get intertwined with him and stick my tongue down his throat.”
“I want to get as close as possible to possibly feel something – if I can’t really, maybe I can disengage his jaw and get as deep as possible into his head and examine the actual anatomy of his mouth. ‘ she said of her thought process.
“So I massaged his jaw for a second to make it open, and then I went all the way in,” Stewart said.
During the film’s premiere on Monday (May 23) at the Cannes Film Festival, some viewers reportedly walked out in the first five minutes, while others later left the theater after a scene involving Seydoux and an open wound.
Before the premiere, Cronenberg said he expected some to leave the screening.
“There are some very strong scenes,” he previously acknowledged, before predicting, “I mean, I’m sure we’re going to have strikes within the first five minutes of the movie. I’m sure of it.”
