Frasier star Kelsey Grammer has explained why Niles won’t be in the sitcom’s reboot

Kelsey Grammer explained why the Frasier The reboot will not feature David Hyde Pierce as Niles.
In 2021, it was announced that Grammer would be returning to the role of Frasier Crane in a revival series of The cheers Spin off for Paramount+.
Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier’s younger brother on the hit ’90s sitcom, previously confirmed the project was still going ahead in April but didn’t say if he would be a part of it.
Now, in a new interview, Grammer has said Niles won’t be on the show.
“David basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating Niles’ performance,” Grammer said persons .
However, Grammer said Hyde Pierce’s absence “weirdly” worked out for the best, as it took the writers “to a new place,” which happened to be “what we originally wanted to do.”
Grammer, 67, described the reboot as “a third act from Frasier” that will show “a whole new life for him.”
Hyde Pierce, 63, spoke about his possible involvement vulture in June 2022: “All this time of my life, writing for these shows, the actors I got to work with – all of that is very important to me. And I would never disregard that to the point of just casually saying, ‘Oh no thanks. I won’t do that again.’ It’s too valuable for me.”
However, the actor said he “wouldn’t just do it” because the experience was so “valuable.”
“I think you can do it without me – in the same way finding new stories to tell Frasier did afterwards cheers. They didn’t bring them cheers Gang to do a new show.”

However, he did not rule out the idea of a cameo in the series, recalling how cheers Stars would “stop by” in Frasier from time to time.
“It was a great time, but there was something else that needed to be said and it needed to be said in a different way – and maybe they’ll find that and I’ll be there, or maybe they’ll find it and you’ll find me don’t need to be there,” he said.
Frasierwhich ran for 11 seasons on NBC between 1993 and 2004, is set to return in 2023.
