Fox News crashes January 6: Sean Hannity’s text messages make clear his complicity

Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the Capitol uprising and the attempted coup against the US government by former president Donald Trump. There was a time not too long ago when everything about that quote would have made us laugh at its sheer absurdity. No one laughs now.

Trump is clearly convinced by his advisers cancel his scheduled press conference on January 6, after finding that he would not be covered live on all networks to spread the Big Lie and make excuses for the violent mobs that attacked the capital a year ago, vowed to hang neck Vice President Mike Pence. Instead, he promised to deliver that message to his loyal followers at a rally next weekend, leaving most Republican officials in Washington breathing a sigh of relief.

However, unfortunately for them, it is not going away.

Trump will talk about this for the rest of his life, and the January 6 committee will be tweaked in a few months. public hearing. Even some MAGA Republicans on Capitol Hill are determined to try to mud the water by dust off their Benghazi play and held their own “inquiry” into why House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., was derelict in her mission by allowing hundreds of Trump voting fanatics to intrude Capitol on that day.

On Tuesday, the committee chairmen, Representatives Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., and Liz Cheney R-Wy., issued a letter they sent Fox News host Sean Hannity in which they revealed they had multiple text messages from him to senior members of the White House staff in the run-up to the 6th. January. On the surface they wanted Hannity to cooperate with the committee, but I doubt there was any expectation that he would. This appears to be an announcement to anyone who has texted people in the White House during this time that the committee may have them and intends to make them public. And it will almost certainly cause more disagreement in Trumpworld. The grasslands were already on thin ice. Now Hannity’s side channel is “concerned,” as Thompson and Cheney have said, about what Trump and his friends did before and after January 6 that put him at odds with the president, who is very influential. may not know that Hannity is forcing his staff to stop. he didn’t do what he did.

Hannity’s attorneys released a statement saying they were reviewing the letter and had First Amendment concerns. However, his texts indicate that he was acting as an adviser to the president, and comparing what he said in private to what he was saying on the air at the time, it was clear that he He doesn’t act like any kind of journalist. It would be interesting if his bosses at Fox News took issue with one of their stars brazenly lying in front of their audience. (Yes, never mind. They won’t.)

The committee focused only on the period from December 31 to January 20 when Trump finally left office. They refer to a text to Meadows in which Hannity says:

“We can’t lose the entire WH advisory office. I do NOT see January 6 playing out the way he’s being told. After the 6th. He should announce he’s leading the nationwide effort to improve integrity way of voting. Go to Fl and watch Joe mess around every day. Stick around. When he speaks, people will listen.”

It’s impossible to know for sure what he meant by “January 6 going the way he was being told” but according to some accounts, this was when Trump’s henchmen were hatching a plot to get Republicans to draw in Congress against the turnout and have Pence throw the election into the House where Trump will win despite losing by legal means. In other words, the coup was planned. And apparently, the White House counsel’s office knows it’s illegal and is threatening to give up en masse about it, or at least that’s the suspicion based on what Hannity texted.

Hannity is clearly very interested in White House seniors and knows all about the discussions that heat Pence up. On January 5, he wrote to Meadows “Pressure Pence, WH advice to leave.” On the eve of the uprising, he wrote, “I am so worried about the next 48 hours,” prompting the committee to ask, “why?” – that’s a very good question. Surely he could not have foreseen the violent uprising. But is Hannity worried that the entire administration will step down? Massive protest? It would be interesting to know, although I doubt we will ever.

The letter suggests that there are other texts indicating that Hannity spoke to Trump personally that night as well as others. I have my suspicions that he hasn’t expressed his “concerns” publicly with Trump. Nobody does that. No, this is Hannity shaking hands with the chief of staff and others in the White House while he’s having fun with Trump and his MAGA-mad audience.

After Trump’s egregious performance that day, would live in disgrace, and in the days that followed, Hannity once again proved that he was anything but a member of the press when he text Meadows and Trump sycophant Rep. Ohio’s Jim Jordan, worried about what Trump might do before his inauguration:

“Guys, we have a clear schedule to land the plane in 9 days. He can’t even mention the election. Never. I didn’t have a good call with him today. . And worse, I’m not sure what the rest do or say, and I don’t want to know if it’s really understood. Ideas?”

Trump responded to that Thursday night, telling CNN’s Kaitlin Collins, “I disagree with Sean on that statement and the facts are proving me right.” Actually, they are not.

Like I said, I don’t think Hannity will cooperate and I’m sure there will be a lot of criticism and harshness about Hannity’s freedom of the press and sources to be revealed. But it was Meadows who turned over the documents, and Hannity never reported anything on this. In fact, here’s what he’s sharing with his audience that he’s clutching his pearls backstage:

Every day, we hear new evidence of the January 6 coup and uprising and have every reason to believe there will be more in the next few months. It’s simply amazing that this happened in the US in 2021. But what’s more surprising is the fact that after all of that (and everything that came before) Donald Trump is is still the most popular and influential Republican in the country and overwhelming favor when he won the presidential nomination in 2024. The man plotted a coup and incited a violent uprising and he didn’t lose any voters. . No wonder he kept spouting out big lies. It works. And I have no doubt that Sean Hannity will be there to help him do it. Fox News crashes January 6: Sean Hannity’s text messages make clear his complicity
