Former NFL player Brendan Langley Fight at Newark Airport: Athlete, airline employee get into scuffle over wheelchair

NEWARK, New Jersey — A wild scene unfolded Thursday at the Newark Airport ticket office in New Jersey.

A fight broke out between a United Airlines employee and former NFL player Brendan Langley.

The police are now investigating the violent incident and are viewing a video recorded by an bystander.

Sources tell ABC News it all started when the clerk asked Langley, 27, about the wheelchair he was using to transport luggage.

The video does not show how the fight started.

The employee has been terminated.

There’s no word on whether he will face charges.

Langley was charged with assault.

The Port Authority released a statement, which reads: “The Port Authority confirms that Brendan Langely was in a physical altercation with a United Airlines employee at Newark Liberty International at approximately 11:03 am on May 19, of his own acknowledgment. No further information is available at this time.”

Langley started playing as a cornerback for the Denver Broncos in 2017. He joined the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in 2020 and currently plays for the Canadian Football League.

“The Calgary Stampeders Football Club is aware of the reports regarding Brendan Langley,” the Stampeders statement said. “The team is currently reviewing the matter for full details and will not comment further until the investigation is complete.”
