Forgotten Cold War AR could be Warzone’s next meta weapon

Call of Duty: Warzone players have shown love for a Black Ops Cold War assault rifle that has been falling for the past few months but could soon become a meta.

The meta in Call of Duty: Warzone has pretty much taken over from Vanguard weapons in the past few weeks. A mix of the MP-40, Cooper Carbine, and Bren will make up regular winning loadouts in Caldera, while Modern Warfare’s Swiss and Kar98 are also getting some love.

However, not everyone sticks to the meta. Many players like to experiment with some of the lesser used battle royale weapons to see if they can make a difference in matches.

Recently players have found that the Bruen MK9 matches the Bren in TTK (Time-To-Kill) and that the Vargo 52 is on par with the dominant XM4. Now it’s the QBZ-83 that draws attention as it could be on the way up.

The QBZ may have a lot of recoil, but it really packs a punch.

The power of the Black Ops Cold War Assault Rifle was highlighted by Warzone YouTubers metaphor in his April 7th video, as he was a bit surprised at how solid a gun is.

“This is a weapon that has never really been meta but is slowly, slowly creeping into the game,” the YouTuber said. “It’s not really being talked about right now, but in the near future people will be gassing this gun.”

There’s no specific accessory that spices up the QBZ, as players rocked a pretty standard build with the Agency Suppressor, 15.5ft Task Force barrel and Axial Arms 3x optics. However, the 45-round drum magazine is increasingly preferred to the 60-round option.

The AR certainly falls into the player abandoned category as it ranks 75th overall WZRanked. Its previous peak was in the mid 20’s when Cold War was the latest release.

It’s improved somewhat in the last few weeks in terms of K/D ratio, meaning experienced players will find success with it, but it remains to be seen if it will jump massively and become a top pick for all players .
