Florida man allegedly shoots friend in both legs during drunk argument: police

A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly handgun whipping his friend and shot him in both legs, police said.
Thomas Arney, 38, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident happened around 4:00 a.m. on Friday on Desoto Avenue in De Leon Springs.
The suspect was still at the scene when police arrived.
Arney told them the incident started with a drunken argument.
“[Arney] told officers he and his friend had been drinking outside all night and then got into an argument that escalated,” the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
The suspect told investigators that his friend smashed the windows of nearby cars before “aggressively” approaching Arney.
A witness said Arney shot the victim once in each leg before finally hitting her in the head with the gun.

The victim did not comply with inquiries, however, the witness claimed that the victim did not threaten Arney in front of the battery.
Arney was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he posted $25,000 bail.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident. No further details are currently available.
