Florida doctor Eric Salata faces sex crimes charges

A Florida doctor has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting two women who were being treated in his office, police say.

Naples doctor Eric Andrew Salata is facing two counts of sexual violence against a physically helpless person, according to news reports. According to a Naples Daily News police report, the 54-year-old harassed two women – 51 and 73 – in the middle of cosmetic procedures after allegedly sedating them.

The 51-year-old woman told police Salata gave her nitrous oxide to relieve her pain during her procedure last month, in addition to a prescription she took upon arrival, according to a police report.

Though admittedly not in her right mind, she said she felt Salata touching her privates before asking what he was doing and he stopped, the report said.

He then used more nitrous oxide and offered her an unknown clear liquid, possibly tequila, to drink, the report said. At this point, she said she got drunk and passed out.

When she woke up, she said she saw Salata performing oral sex and passed out again before she could stop him, according to the report. When she woke up again, he allegedly entered her, the newspaper reported, before she fell unconscious again.

The Naples Daily News reported the 73-year-old woman came forward Monday and told police, citing authorities that Salata raped her during her procedure.

The victim reportedly told officers the doctor massaged an area on her body and offered her nitrous oxide to relieve pain. As the massage continued and more nitrous oxide was pumped, the victim said Salata then raped her, according to the report.

She said she was awake and alert during the attack and that Salata was on top of her for about 15 seconds, according to the report.

According to WZVN, Salata owns the Pura Vida Medical Spa with his wife.

In both procedures, Salata was said to be the only person in the room, the broadcaster reported.

He was reportedly arrested Monday night — the same day the second woman came forward — and placed on $200,000 bail.
