First Image Features Cha Cha Real Smooth Dakota Johnson, Cooper Raiff

Ever wanted to get paid to go to a party? Well, maybe that’s not the best idea, if Cooper Raiff have anything to say about it. As part of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival lineup reveal, the first images have been released from writer-director-star Raiff’s latest project, Cha Cha is so smooth – yes, with a title inspired by that party song – also starred Dakota Johnson.

Independent TV series, shot in Pittsburgh over the summer and also stars Leslie Mann, Brad Garrett, and Raul Castillo, which follows a college graduate with no direction (Raiff) as he enters a relationship with a young mother and her teenage daughter, all while finding gigs His new assistant, a “party starter” job for bar mitzvahs, is responsible for putting everything in gear and getting everyone on the dance floor. The new image shows Raiff and Johnson paired together for an intimate moment, perhaps one of the rarer images in Raiff’s character’s life as a professional party starter.

Cha Cha is so smooth serves as a sequel to Raiff’s last film, Shithouse, for which he has also served as a writer, director, and star. Also attended by Dylan Gelula, the Raiff-directed debut film was originally slated to premiere at South by Southwest in March 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic – although the project still received widespread acclaim, winning won the SXSW Grand Jury Prize for Best Storytelling.

Raiff pairs the release Cha Cha is so smooth with another upcoming project, as he will also be directing The scammers, a story based on a true story from 30West about a teenager put in charge of the minor league hockey team. The film is also one of a number of upcoming films from Johnson, who will star in the Netflix adaptation of Convince, which premieres sometime in 2022.

Also attended by Vanessa Burghardt and Evan Assante, Cha Cha is so smooth run by Johnson and Raiff, along with Ro Donnelly, Erik Feig, and Jessica Switch, and will have its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, which begins January 20, both in person and online.
