Finals right in 2021: AJ Odudu’s ‘broken heart’ for not being able to compete

AJ Odudu admits she was ‘heartbroken’ at being forced to withdraw Seriously to dance day before the final.
The presenter is forced to drop out of the show after injuring a ligament in his leg in rehearsals with partners Kai Widdrington, and has been warned she will face a year of rehab if she weighs on it.
Describing the feeling of having to overcome the final hurdle, AJ sobbed: ‘I don’t know how to describe what it feels like to have a broken heart, and that’s what it feels like.’
She added: ‘But we had the best time on this show and I put on a brave face, Kai put on a brave face, we loved the show tonight. .’
While AJ thinks John Whaite and Johannes Radebe and Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice are ‘unbelievable’, she wishes she could be there with them too.
While trauma wasn’t how she wanted her time on the show to end, AJ is also grateful to have been there and had the wonderful experience she had.
The BBC said in a statement at the time: ‘Sadly due to injury AJ and Kai have had to withdraw from #Strictly and will not compete in tomorrow’s final.
‘We want to thank them for an incredible 13 weeks on the show and the pure joy they bring to the dance floor each week.’
AJ told fans: ‘Learning to dance for the past 13 weeks has been an incredible honor and to be able to do it next to someone as special, patient and dedicated as Kai is something I will cherish forever.
‘Thank you to Nghiem’s family for the experience, the medical team for trying to get me back to normal and mostly everyone at home for watching and supporting.
‘You made this experience memorable. Dancing seriously has been a lifelong dream and I’m so glad it came true. Good luck to my dance partners, John & Johannes and Rose and Giovanni. I’ll cheer you on (with one foot!). ‘
