Fentanyl bust in Texas: Woman arrested at El Paso border crossing with fentanyl wrapped in condom in her private quarters, CBP agents say

EL PASO, Texas (KTRK) — A woman who was walking into the United States from Mexico through an El Paso intersection was arrested earlier this month with just a small amount of fentanyl, but the way border officials say she has the Drugs hidden, illustrates the great lengths smuggling has prevailed.

The seizure of 0.006 pounds of the opioid happened May 11 at the Bridge of the Americas border crossing, US Customs and Border Protection wrote in a Explanation published on Tuesday.

A drug-sniffing dog alerted agents to something more about the 40-year-old woman, prompting a thorough search.

However, when this was completed, the woman went further and revealed what she was hiding.

“The woman voluntarily removed a condom filled with fentanyl pills from her vagina,” the CBP press release said.

The unidentified woman was handed over to local authorities.

The seizure follows recently released CDC data that recorded a record 107,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States last year.

The arrest was one of 25 made by the federal agency in a week at ports of entry in the El Paso area, which included seizures of cocaine and methamphetamine.
