Fear of an “alien” invasion mounts as the rare blue moon lights up the night sky

People around the world are waiting to catch a glimpse of the 2023 Super Blue Moon, and some believe “aliens” have something to do with the rare celestial phenomenon.

UFOlogists and UFO enthusiasts are certain that there is life outside of our planet, and recent claims by a NASA scientist based on theories of the existence of “aliens” have only made this seem more possible and terrifying. But what does the seasonal blue moon have to do with aliens, you ask? Let’s find out!

“Alien” theories accompany Blue Moon 2023

Even the occasional “Blue Moon” isn’t spared from talk of extraterrestrial life, in which humans invent theories about the unimaginable.

The second full moon of August 2023 will appear in full force on Wednesday evening, and some of the images showing the night sky spectacle have prompted people to come up with “alien” theories.

Although there is no evidence to support these claims, some believe the Blue Moon was the perfect opportunity for aliens to invade Earth and that the rare phenomenon is a sign they are targeting us.

And some others thought a “UFO” had been sighted around the supermoon when they mistook large Saturn next to the moon for an unidentified flying object.

The misinformed social media users are under the impression that the moon seemed bigger and brighter for the second time this month because non-human creatures are coming to get us, but there is no truth to that.

What you need to know about the August Super Moon

When the full moon occurs for the second time in a month, it is called a blue moon. One speaks of a supermoon when the celestial body comes closest to its orbit around the earth.

In 2023, the Blue Moon is expected to shine at its brightest, being more than 100 miles closer to Earth than the August 1 Full Moon. What makes the event even more special is Saturn’s placement at the top right of the moon.

The super moon will be visible from most parts of the world and can be seen with the naked eye in clear weather.

Another Blue Supermoon won’t be visible until 2037, according to NASA.

Social media users suspect extraterrestrial activity

Several social media users, driven by their wild imagination, have linked the appearance of the Blue Moon to the invasion of extraterrestrial beings.

One user wrote: “Go outside immediately and check out the super blue moon over #Boulder County. The moon appears bigger and brighter tonight than any other time of the year because OH GOD THE ALIENS ARE COMING.”

“Do you think the aliens might have heard about the blue moon?? “Just in case, I’m going to sleep through the night on my roof,” said another.

A third user said: “I have my fingers crossed that the aliens will use this super blue moon as an opportunity to reveal themselves and end it all for us.”
