Fans beg Jeremy Renner to play President Zelensky in biopic

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has won global acclaim as he fights to defend his country in the midst of an all-out Russian invasion.

Now, thousands of fans are clamoring for a Hollywood-produced movie about the 44-year-old politician, and are urging actor Jeremy Renner, 51, to take the lead.

“Is it clear to everyone that Jeremy Renner is the only logical choice to play Zelensky in the biopic that the writers are almost certainly working on?” one person asked on Twitter, share pictures of two beauties together.

Indeed, Zelensky and Renner have striking similarities to each other. The President of Ukraine, 5 feet 7 inches tall, is a bit shorter than the actor, who is 5 feet 9 inches tall – but both have deep eyes, short brown hair and almost identical jawlines together.

Renner previously played a war hero in the action movie “The Hurt Locker,” with multiple screenshots shared by the actor in the film along with photos of Zelensky taking to the streets to defend Kyiv.

“’Zelensky,’ new biopic starring Jeremy Renner,” Another fan is enamored.

However, the fan selection quickly sparked a backlash, with many Twitter users reminding that Ukraine was in the midst of war.

“Ukrainians are losing their lives and their homes/businesses being destroyed and we literally have people tweeting ‘Jeremy Renner should play Zelensky in the movie about this!!’ an explosion. “It’s the most tasteless and pathetic thing you can think of right now.”

The politician and the actor have many similarities with each other. However, some critics have accused casting fans of insensitive and shoddy quality.

A second detractor surfaced: “There are people tweeting about whether Jeremy Renner should play Volodymyr Zelensky in a movie about the Ukraine war. This is not entertainment. Everyone is dying. People are being displaced from their homes. “

“We live very sheltered lives in the West if our frame of reference for an international tragedy is whether a movie is made about it. This is a gap in both empathy and experience,” continued the Twitter user.

Zelensky himself is a former actor who only entered politics in 2019.

Their father is one of the most popular Ukrainian TV comediansironically played the country’s president in the satirical show “Servant of the People”.

Zelensky is now in imminent danger, rejecting his offer to evacuate his country following a full-scale invasion of Russia last week.

“I need ammunition, not a ride,” Zelensky declaredwilling to stay and fight alongside his countrymen.
