Facebook reveals how it REALLY collects and uses your data with new Privacy Center

FACEBOOK just revealed a Security Center intended to provide insight into what the application does with the data.

The Security Center is currently only available to a handful of US users, but there are plans to roll out more in the coming months.

Meta, the company that owns Facebook, speak: “Today, we’re introducing the Privacy Center to educate people about their privacy options and make it easier for them to understand how we collect and use information.

“In the Privacy Center, you can learn about our approach to privacy, read our Data Policy, and learn how to use a variety of privacy controls and protections. that we provide.”

If you’re in the US, you can find the Security Center on the desktop version of Facebook.

It will also be available on the app once the feature rolls out to more people.

The Security Center is currently divided into five categories.

These are Privacy, Sharing, Collection, Use and Advertising.

Each section contains instructions and controls to help you learn about your privacy on Facebook and how you can try and control it.

As for the Usage section, Meta says: “Learn more about how and why we use data, and explore the controls we provide to manage how your information is used.” use.”

As for Advertising, it explains: “Learn more about how your information is used to determine the ads you see and to use advertising controls like Advertising Preferences.”

The Security Center will be in Settings and then Privacy.

Meta concludes: “As we expand the Security Center, we will add more ways to access it in places where you may have privacy concerns.

“We will continue to update the Privacy Center and add more modules and controls to help people understand our approach to privacy across our apps and technologies. “

In the past, Meta has faced backlash over its approach to privacy and data, and is working to be more transparent with its users.
