‘Excellent’: Tottenham midfielder, 26, could replace Harry Kane – Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has said James Maddison could score some of the goals Harry Kane scored for Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou said as quoted by Football.Londonthat he is delighted to have James Maddison in his Tottenham Hotspur squad.
The former Celtic manager said the England international is someone who can score goals and create chances for his team-mates.
Postecoglou believes Maddison could score some of the goals scored by star striker Harry Kane.
Accordingly BBC SportsEngland striker Kane is on the verge of leaving Tottenham for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old has scored 43 goals and provided 32 assists in 163 appearances in the Premier League so far.
Kane has scored 213 goals and provided 46 assists in 320 games in his Premier League career so far.
Ange Postecoglou has high expectations for Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison
Postecoglou said of Maddison: “He was one of the first companies we did. He was available and I was delighted to add him to the group knowing what we needed to build here.
“And again if you know if Harry would go that would be quite a lot of goals if you go out the door and you know you can’t just replace that with a player. One area of the club that needed strengthening was the threat in midfield in terms of goal count and that’s what Madders offer – goals and assists.
“If we’re going to cover the fact that Harry is gone and all the targets are going with him, we need to spread that and Madders is making sure of that.”
“Since he’s been here he’s been brilliant, he’s been outstanding. Not only in games but also in training and in the way he has embraced the club and evolved into the football we want to play.”

Kane is one of the best forwards in the world and a world class player.
It will be extremely difficult for Tottenham to find a suitable replacement for the striker.
However, as Postecoglou has noted, Spurs could share the goals.
The attacking players, including Maddison, have to step in.
Now, of course, nobody expects Maddison to score 20 league goals every season.
However, it would be great if the playmaker found 10-15 times in the Premier League.
After all, Maddison scored ten goals and provided nine assists for Leicester in the Premier League last season.
In the 2021-22 season, the playmaker scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in the league.
