EURO 2028 will be hosted by Great Britain and Ireland, Uefa announced on April 7th.
No competing bidder had come forward before Wednesday’s deadline and barring last-minute submissions, the British Isles’ joint proposal will win.
Uefa will reopen the bidding process if they don’t, but no problems are expected.
However, Russia considered pitching for the summer tournament Plans were abandoned after invading Ukraine.
Turkey has also urged Uefa to consider them for 2028 or 2032.
However, it is believed that they chose not to challenge the British and Irish.
Co-hosting rules mean that none of the five host nations are likely to automatically qualify.
And Uefa are expected to expand the format to 32 teams – up from 24 at Euro 2024 in Germany.
Required government guarantees include, but are not limited to, security, marketing, tax and visa obligations.
An income tax exemption for players is one of Uefa’s must-haves – similar to what happened at Euro 2020 last summer.
Italy is also expected to confirm its intention to bid to host Euro 2032.
A British and Irish bid to host the 2030 World Cup was dropped in January in favor of a Euro 2028 challenge.
