ESSENCE . Festival of Culture is returning to its original live format after two consecutive virtual experiences due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Essence Communications, Inc. announced Wednesday (December 15) that ESSENCE Festival will be streamed live in New Orleans from June 30 to July 3. For the festivities of 2022, Essence celebrates the culture and resilience of the Black community with the theme “It’s That” is black fun for me!”
As a continuation of the successful virtual transition, the 2022 ESSENCE Cultural Festival will once again include digital components for attendees hoping to participate around the world.

The 2022 ESSENCE Festival will feature nearly one million square feet of space for empowering programming – focusing on networking, finance, career, health, fashion, beauty and more – at the Convention Center Ernest N. Morial conventions, nightly concerts at the Caesars Superdome, and other activities in venues throughout New Orleans. Virtual audiences will experience live streaming of selected on-site activities and exclusive digital content.

Since its founding in 1995 to celebrate ESSENCE magazine’s 25th anniversary, the ESSENCE Festival has grown to become the largest celebration of Black women. In previous years, the lineup of performers has included famous members Janet Jackson, Bruno Mars, Patti LaBelle, Summer Walker, Saweetie, Janelle Monae, Ari Lennox and many more.
