Eric Trump alerted his father to the Mar-a-Lago raid

Eric Trump said FBI agents “looted” his father’s office and broke into a safe during a raid at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

In a Monday night interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, the younger Trump said he was the one who informed Donald Trump earlier in the day about the FBI’s unannounced search of the Florida home.

“I was the guy that got the call this morning. And I called my dad and let him know it happened,” Eric Trump said of the raid.

The former first son confirmed to Hannity that FBI agents conducted the raid to look for potentially confidential documents Donald Trump may have in his possession at Mar-a-Lago.

He blasted the search as politically motivated and insinuated that his father was a victim of the investigation.

“To have 30 FBI agents – actually more than that – come to Mar-a-Lago, you absolutely don’t give, you know, a note, go through the gates, start searching an office, close a closet search,” Eric Trump grumbled. “You know, they broke into a safe. He didn’t even have anything in the safe.”

He said Democrats put a target on his father’s back because he feared he might run again in 2024.

“They’re doing it for a reason, because they don’t want Donald Trump running again and winning in 2024, and, Sean, that’s what today is about,” he said.

The Justice Department is investigating Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents, and Monday’s FBI raid is part of that investigation.

The federal agency was alerted earlier this year when the National Archives and Records Administration said it had found classified material in 15 boxes at Mar-a-Lago.

Agents searched the Florida property for additional documents Monday.

Eric Trump said his father worked with both the National Archives and the investigation. He considered an unannounced raid unnecessary.

“You want to look for anything, if you’re thinking anything—like, you know, get on with it,” he said to Hannity. “I mean, it was – it was an open door policy and suddenly 30 agents are coming to Mar-a-Lago?”

Donald Trump may have violated a federal law prohibiting the removal and relocation of classified documents to unauthorized locations.

However, Eric Trump said the raid was merely “more political persecution of Donald J. Trump.”

“They want to attack a guy they see as his number one threat is Biden’s number one threat,” he continued. “And that is what Donald J. Trump is. Because you know what? He had an incredibly strong country.”
