Chas Dingle made many enemies off screen by embarking on an affair with Al Chapman.

But ITV viewers’ fury was no match for Paddy Kirk’s heartbreak.

In the final scenes, the beloved village vet, portrayed by Dominic Brunt, was seen struggling with the demise of his marriage to Chas.

Filled with resentment, he even tried to push the Woolpack manager away from Emmerdale and their daughter Eve.

However, Paddy could find solace in the arms of a well-known lady from his past.

Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley recently opened up about a possible reunion between the former spouses.

Spoilers for next week have hinted that Mandy and Paddy will be alone, walking down Memory Lane together and sharing a bottle of wine.

Tensions arise and the beautician does everything to fight it.

“They just start talking about day trips they’ve done in Blackpool. It’s pure nostalgia,” Lisa explained.

“And then comes her song, which is Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got To Do With It, and Mandy’s fight and fight.”

But the 46-year-old also made one thing clear: Mandy refuses to be treated “like a doormat” by Paddy, no matter how she feels.

“They look into each other’s eyes and Mandy says ‘No.’ Mandy doesn’t want to be a doormat again.”

The beauty salon owner is haunted by her past relationships, but she also feels the pressure of being part of the Dingle clan.

After their affair was exposed, Chas was shunned by most of her family – including Mandy – and even isolated over the Christmas period.

Could the fear of family crashing down on her like a ton of bricks keep Mandy from getting close to Paddy again? Lisa Riley isn’t so sure.

“She’s always been a doormat when it comes to relationships and she refuses because she knows it’s not right and I think in the back of her head I think she can hear the rest of the family saying, ‘Mandy, do this not’. ‘ said the actress.

“But when Tina Turner comes, they think it’s a sign, someone tells them.”

Fans of the Yorkshire-based program will recall that Mandy and Paddy have a long history together, having been involved in an on-off romance since 1999.

The couple were married before Paddy called it quits when he found out Mandy had cheated on him too.

However, Mandy may have learned from her mistakes and viewers have long begged her to sweep Paddy off his feet after his failed marriage to Chas.

And Lisa couldn’t help but notice how much viewers have been waiting for the iconic couple to repair their romance.

“All over social media, that’s what they want,” she claimed.

“What we realized was when the pandemic hit everyone was seeing Paddy and Mandy at lunchtime and they just loved it. This generation wasn’t even born yet.”
