EMMA Coronel Aispuro, wife of drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, has been transferred to a minimum-security federal prison to continue serving a three-year sentence.
Coronel will be sent to Forth Worth, Texas for the remainder of his sentence for drug trafficking and money laundering.
Beauty queen sentenced back in November up to three years in prison and agreed to lose nearly $1.5 million.
During sentencing, she pleaded with the judge for forgiveness and added that she did not want her daughters to grow up without their parents.
“My daughters are the most important motivator by which I accept my mistakes and I beg for their forgiveness,” the beauty queen said in Spanish.
“I don’t want my daughters to grow up without their mothers,” Coronel told the judge.
In his final words to Coronel, Judge Rudolph Contreras told her: “I hope you raise your twins in a different environment than you’ve been through so far. Good luck. .”
Coronel was also sentenced to four years of supervised release.
Her three-year sentence was one year less than what the prosecution had asked for Judge Contreras.
Coronal, 32 years old, pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy to distribute illegal drugs in June 2021.
The Queen of Drugs has pleaded guilty knowingly and intentionally distributing heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine for a period of at least six years.
She was also guilty of one count of money laundering and one count of engaging in transactions with a foreign drug dealer.
As part of the plea agreement, she also admitted to conspiring Helped her husband escape from Mexican prison in 2015.
Before pleading guilty, prosecutor Anthony Nardozzi told Judge Contreras that if the case goes to trial, “the government will prove each of the three counts in the information in a variety of ways.
“Those would include witness statements, evidence generated by law enforcement investigations and other means,” he said.
With her face covered by a white mask, the former beauty queen is said to have not shown any obvious emotions during the hearing.
Coronel confirmed to the judge that she understands the charges and the consequences of her plea.
“Everything is clear,” she told the judge in Spanish before her interpreter relayed the message in English.

She allegedly continued to send text messages while visiting El Chapo in a Mexican prison after his arrest in February 2014.
The FBI in court documents said that Coronel was born in the United States and that members of her family were deeply involved in the gang’s human trafficking activities.
