Emily Ratajkowski blocked Celeste Barber on Instagram

Celeste Barber has revealed that Emily Ratajkowski blocked her on Instagram after she poked fun at one of her G-string photoshoots.

The 40-year-old comedian sparked tensions with the American supermodel last year when she uploaded a parody image recreating one of the supermodel’s racy G-string snaps.

She jokingly captioned the post, “We’re sick of you objectifying our bodies! Besides, here’s my ass,” as she posed on the wall just like Emrata.

The move sparked backlash from fans, with some perceiving it as a harmless and humorous joke, while others claimed it had “problematic” and “misogynistic” undertones.

Speaking to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa, Celeste revealed that the supermodel actually blocked her after what happened.

“Do you have any feedback from Ratajkowski?” she was asked.

“I don’t think Emily is a fan,” Celeste replied.

“It’s okay, she can’t love it. But she blocked me.”

“If Cindy Crawford is okay with that, then I’m okay with that. Thanks to the world’s greatest supermodel, people aren’t allowed to like it.”

“I actually get inundated with fancy people sending me photos to parody.”

Celeste is known for recreating photoshoots of famous women with stereotypical “ideal” body types to challenge mainstream ideals of beauty.

At the time of the controversial parody post, her followers had a range of differing opinions on the image.

“Pretty sad to see that caption. As women, we can resist being sexually objectified by men and the market AND also choose to (re)present our bodies in sexual ways,” one said.

“I think you sometimes oversimplify what’s going on and your ‘lighthearted’ jabs cross the line into old school anti-sex feminism and end up shaming women,” wrote another.

While one argued: “That caption and many of the comments here are disappointingly misogynistic. How a woman uses her own body, her sensuality and her sexuality is entirely up to her. Hating other women for doing what they do is harmful.”

Others used the post to implore women to “stop tearing each other down.”

“I tried so hard to be a feminist that you went back into misogyny. that is embarrassing. Their whole trick is putting women down while pretending to be quirky and making fun of themselves. do better,” said one.

“Both can be true. That’s such a disappointing and cheap caption Celeste,” agreed another.

Another woman said: “This caption reeks of people telling women ‘what did you expect’ when they go out in a short skirt and are sexually assaulted…please check your internal misogyny…”

Not everyone was offended by the parody, as TV presenter Sophie Monk and British reality star Louise Thompson both commented with a series of smiling face emojis.

“Hilarious,” one user commented, while another said Celeste was “my queen.”
