Eastex freeway shooting: 66-year-old man shot while driving near E. Crosstimbers

Houston police responded to the shooting at 1 a.m. Wednesday and found the man, identified by authorities as Robert Dafft, had been shot in the leg.
Authorities said Dafft was driving south on a freeway at E. Crosstimbers when a stranger ran up to him and began shooting at his driver.
A few laps through Dafft’s door, straight into his leg.
Dafft told police he did not know the other driver or why someone shot at him.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident where someone was shot while driving on Houston freeways and roads.
In September, a man died after he was shot in Westpark Tollway. A month earlier, the children had to drive the SUV they were sitting in on the East Freeway after their father was shot and killed.
Editor: An earlier version of the story said the man was 67 years old, according to information from police at the time.
