Duo arrested on drug and child abuse charges in Fayetteville after tipping off Crimestoppers, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — Fayetteville police said they arrested two people — including a criminal — on drug and child abuse charges Thursday after Crimestoppers received a tip about suspicious activity at a home.

During the arrest of a man and woman, police said in a press release they seized a handgun, 48.5 pounds of marijuana, $5,932 in cash and “assorted drug paraphernalia.”

Police released a photo of the drugs seized after “a concerned citizen submitted a CrimeStoppers tip”.

Casion Dontrice Murphy, 28, and Tateamma Jurnasia Cartrette, 23, both of Fayetteville, have been charged with trafficking marijuana, conspiracy to traffic marijuana and maintaining a residence, police said.

They were also each charged with two counts of child molestation and two counts of contributing to a juvenile delinquency, police said.

Cartrette was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

“The anonymous tipster is eligible for a cash award from Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers,” the press release said.

Crimestoppers reminds citizens that they are asked to call Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477) if they have any information regarding criminal activity.
