Drive past Lehigh Acres . bakery

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A car drove past the Esmeralda Cuban Bakery on Lee Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

“We heard it like an explosion,” said Sonia Rios.

Business owners in that square said an elderly woman stepped on the gas instead of the brake, sending her straight into the bakery.

Rios, who works alongside Sonia Rios Realty, said she was glad no one was injured. Rios said people are always going in and out of Esmeralda.

“There are two parts to the bakery, there is one where they store their warehouse and future restaurants they will open and the other is the bakery where we had people inside luckily the storage area was damaged.” Rios said.

Despite the damage, the bakery is still operating normally.
